Concho In The Community

Working to improve the quality of life where we live

The Permian Basin isn’t just where we work. It’s where we live. We love it here—and we’re always working to make it even better.

Building communities

Our charitable giving focuses on building projects—the facilities that make up strong communities. For example, we’ve recently made significant commitments to capital campaigns to help build the West Texas Food Bank, Centers for Children and Families, a gym and upper school facilities for The Hillcrest School, a private, not-for-profit school for students with learning differences in grades 1-12, and a new campus for the Bynum School, the only year-round school in the Permian Basin that provides an uninterrupted continuum of services for children and adults who have special needs.

Most recently, we donated $400,000 for the renovation of Midland’s Fasken Park. The renovations will include playground equipment, lighting and irrigation upgrades. Additionally, we also reached out to our local firefighters with the donation of a new pumper truck.

Giving local arts a hand

We’re proud that our giving has made a significant impact on local arts. We’re a major founding donor to the Wagner Noel Performing Arts Center. We also actively support the Midland Community Theatre and Midland Odessa Symphony and Chorale.

Improving the quality of education

Education is a top priority for Concho. We worked with other local businesses and foundations to donate $6.25 million to support bonuses for teachers in the Midland Independent School District (MISD). The money will help recruit new teachers to MISD and retain those presently employed with the district.
